My name is Sam and im your very own movie man. On my blogs I will be discussing old and current movie titles, directors and upcoming movies for 2009 and my passion for exploitation films, I hope you enjoy my recommendations. Thankyou. For my first review it is a cult classic and among a favourite of mine, and has become a well known B-grade movie around the world, The Big Doll House which was released in America in 1971 tells the story of a group of women surviving the harsh treatments of the wardress in an all female prison.
The Big Doll House Rating- R18+ Violence, drug use, adult themes, sex scene Director- Jack Hill Writer- Don Spencer Genre- Action, Drama Cast- Judith M. Brown- Collier Roberta Collins- Alcott Pam Grier- Grear Sid Haig- Harry
The film starts off with Collier ( Brown ) being sent to an all female prison in the Phillipines for murdering her husband. She is then introduced to her cellmates who take an instint disliking to her, the women do not get along and this results in tiffs, a cafeteria hosedown to a mud- wrestling catfight. The wardress is a sadistic cruel bitch who inflicts tortue on the women for no apparent reason so the women plot to escape with the help of two men. Breaking out of the prison they decide to take the wardress hostage with guns ablazing enter the woods, take refuge and fight back. Verdict You know where this movie is going with the obvious predictable storylines but chicks with guns mud-wrestling is something that made the 1970's the decade for exploitation cinema. Other movies in this series are the 1972 sequel The Big Bird Cage, Women in Cages and the Arena This Blog Entry's Comment Board There are no comments on this post yet, be the first to leave one!
